Every submission to the Aesthetic Medicine & Plastic Surgery will be pre-screened by the editors to ensure it adheres to the scope, policies, and style of the journal before peer review. Authors may suggest up to four academically qualified reviewers for consideration per submission. Authors should provide the current contact details (including full name, email address, and affiliation) of the suggested reviewers and state the reasons for the recommendations in the cover letter. However, the editorial team strives to maintain a fair and unbiased peer review process; therefore, there is no guarantee that any suggested reviewer will be approached to conduct the peer review. Additionally, authors may indicate individuals who should not be invited as peer reviewers and provide the reasons for this request in the cover letter.

The Editor-in-Chief will decide which submissions should be considered for peer review and assign reviewers—either from the editorial board or externally—depending on the topic, to initiate a double-blind peer review. Based on the review reports and reviewers' recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief will make one of the following editorial decisions: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject.

If the decision requires minor revisions, the author(s) should submit the revised manuscript, title page, back matter, cover letter, and response/rebuttal letter within 7 days. If the decision requires major revisions, the author(s) should submit the revised materials within 30 days. The revision file will be pre-screened by an editor and then reviewed by the assigned reviewers.

The peer review process is considered complete once the submission has been accepted for publication in Aesthetic Medicine & Plastic Surgery or has been considered to be rejected. Only accepted papers will proceed to copy-editing, typesetting, and proofreading before being published online.
